If the White House commission looking at opioid use in America has its way, Trump will declare the opioid epidemic a national emergency That was the top recommendation issued by the panel on Monday. Chaired by beleaguered New Jersey governor Chris Christie, the panel also recommended increased treatment capacity and prescriber education. The commission_s final and more complete report is due out in October. On the supply side of the equation, Indian authorities have just made an unbelievable drug bust They intercepted a merchant ship carrying over THREE THOUSAND POUNDS of heroin, valued at over HALF A BILLION dollars Because of its proximity to Afghanistan and its opium production, India is now a major stop on the drug smuggling circuit, as well as a growing consumer itself Apparently, there_s nothing America won_t outsource And if you_ve ever wondered why climate change is taken more seriously by West Coast and East Coast types, here_s one explanation: that_s where the flooding will happen The Union of Concerned Scientists has just released a report titled When Rising Seas Hit Home, and even with conservative estimates, it_s pretty shocking.
