I hear it was a pretty easy choice this week Angie.We always have a few candidates in the mix Kat but this week one stood head and shoulders above the pack - in all the worst ways The members of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity at the University of Oklahoma. They shamed themselves and everyone else associated with the national fraternity - and the University of Oklahoma. In case you missed it a video came to light a few days ago capturing SAE frat members singing a racist song about when black people might be invited to pledge. Spoiler alert - the answer is never. So yeah. That_s a thing that happened. IN 2015 The source of the shameful 9-second video is unknown but he or she obviously didn_t approve because the vid was passed on to a campus equality group called Unheard. THEY posted it online and it_s made headlines around the world - and rightfully so. You might expect this type of slimy behaviour at a Klan rally but not with supposedly well-educated college kids. As you_d expect the backlash around all this has been fierce. SAE denounced the actions of the Oklahoma chapter apologized and promised to investigate the incident. But that was hardly enough to satisfy most people. OU has dropped the hammer on the frat booting the racist bums from their on-campus house and completely severing ties with SAE. Two of the frat members have been expelled. And to make matters worse another video surfaced this week featuring SAE_s 79-year old house mother. She_d claimed she had no idea the boys in her frat sang songs like that. But the new video says otherwise. It shows her drunk and repeatedly chanting the n-word. Wow what a charming bunchFallout from the video scandal is likely far from over. The OU campus has seen a number of demonstrations against racism this past week. The school_s famous football team even skipped a practice to take part in a protest walking-arm-in-arm while wearing all black. The controversy has even cost the team a top-ranked recruit who changed his mind about being a Sooner. As if the SAE clowns weren_t already hated enough on campus now they_re messing with the school_s famous football program. So far there_s been no response from the Trump camp on the jabs In other news two men have been ARRESTED after posing for naked selfies at a MAJOR tourist attraction The European travelers were visiting the ancient Inca site of Machu Picchu in Peru when they were caught with their pants down. Police arrested them on the spot and have since charged them with offenses against morality. Local officials say they_re releasing the photos to discourage any FUTURE incidents of lewd behavior. And finally it_s a match made in publicity heaven Media tycoon Rupert Murdoch wed model Jerry Hall in London. According to the experts the financial impact COULD be as high as 3 BILLION dollars The biggest losers were airlines with more than 13 thousand flights cancelled. Entertainment venues like restaurants and theaters also took big hits as people were forced to stay home. On the bright side economists say that the figures will be a lot LESS than they could have been had the storm hit during the work week. McDonald_s all-day breakfast gamble is paying off US sales were UP by 5 point 7 percent in the last quarter thanks in large part to the fast food giant_s decision to offer breakfast menu items around the clock. The turnaround comes after nearly two YEARS of declining sales. Besides switching up the menu the company has also been working to improve service times and raise worker_s wages. And US treasury officials have publicly called out Russian president Vladimir Putin for being corrupt In an interview with BBC news Treasury rep Adam Szubin accused Putin of using STATE ASSETS to enrich himself and his friends and said that the US government has been aware of the corruption for years. Estimates have put Putin_s personal wealth upwards of 40 BILLION despite only earning 110 thousand a year in his role as president. Eila the Kremlin has already DENIED the accusations and is challenging officials in Washington to offer up proof.One thing_s for sure: this can_t be good for US-Russian relations Thanks very much Peyton. Kat NASA says it was OVERWHELMED by the number of applications it received in its latest search for astronauts. The application deadline closed on Thursday and in the past 2 months the space agency received more than 18300 resumes NASA will now spend the next 18 months whittling the big number down to between 8 and 14 applicants. If you applied we wish you luck because you_ll need it This year_s applicants have about a 0.07 chance of being selected. NASA will announce the new class in mid-2017 British bank HSBC is rolling out hefty new security features it hopes will protect customers against hackers. The bank announced voice and fingerprint-enabled account features that they call simpler and more secure than conventional passwords or pins. HSBC says it will save people the hassle of having to remember their banking passwords which can often lead to frustration. The new security tech will be made available to British customers FIRST this summer and will get a US release later this year. And for the first time since his arrest the wife of drug kingpin Joaquin El Chapo Guzman has spoken out. In an interview with Telemundo Emma Coronel Aispuro says she fears for her husband_s life and hasn_t talked to him since he was recaptured on January 8th. The former beauty queen married El Chapo on her 18th birthday in 2007. He was fifty at the time. Guzman spent the majority of their marriage on the run from authorities. Coronel Aispuro says that she believes he_s being punished for breaking out of prison last summer - a bold move that brought shame to Mexican government officials. I wouldn_t be surprised if that was the case Kat. Mexico was basically the laughing stock of the world after he escaped. Yeah on a motorcycle through a tunnel almost a mile long.
